We’re thrilled to share that our client, Larsen & Shaw, has won an Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA) water efficiency award!
For more than 10 years, the OWWA Water Efficiency Committee has recognized outstanding initiatives in water efficiency in both the public and private sector. Larsen & Shaw are the 2026 private sector recipient of this prestigious award.
Larsen & Shaw implemented an affordable smart blue roof blue roof (ASBR) system that captures rainwater and uses it to offset process and domestic (toilet flushing) water use. The system was designed by Enviro-Stewards.
Per their press release:
“Since implementation, 73% of the toilet flushing and living wall water demand has been supplied through the rainwater harvesting system, substantially reducing reliance on municipal water sources. In addition to conserving treated drinking water, the system helps mitigate peak stormwater runoff, reducing pressure on local drainage infrastructure and helping lessen the impacts of flooding events. The stored rainwater and integrated green infrastructure also contribute to naturally cooling the building, improving overall energy performance and occupant comfort.”
Congratulations to the Larsen & Shaw team and the Enviro-Stewards staff who designed and implemented the blue roof!
