In our recent announcement introducing Mats van Kleef as President of Enviro-Stewards, we shared our excitement about what this next chapter holds. Since then, we’ve heard from partners and clients who have worked closely with Mats, and their reflections reinforce exactly why there is such strong confidence in his leadership.
For many of our partners and clients, Mats’ leadership is not new. They have experienced his leadership skills firsthand through years of collaboration, problem-solving and the impact on their businesses.
Brett Wills, Founder & CEO of CarbonOne, shared:
"Having had the opportunity to work with you over the past few years, it’s clear why Bruce chose you to take on this role. Your deep understanding of the business, thoughtful leadership, and practical, grounded approach to sustainability have consistently stood out. I have no doubt you’ll continue to build on the strong foundation that Enviro-Stewards has established. I also want to reiterate how much we value our partnership and collaboration with you and the broader team. Enviro-Stewards is an important strategic partner for CarbonOne, and we very much look forward to continuing - and expanding - our work together under your leadership."

This vote of confidence in Mats’ leadership is echoed by Lauren Beerman, Director, Corporate Sustainability at Gay Lea Foods Co-operative.
She had this to say about him:
"Working with Mats has been an absolute pleasure. He brings a rare combination of technical expertise, humility, and genuine commitment to meaningful environmental impact. Throughout our collaboration with Enviro-Stewards - from process integration studies in 2023 to implementing Stewwi for Gay Lea Foods’ energy management information system in 2025 and all the engineering questions in between - his thoughtful leadership and clarity of purpose consistently elevated the work and made partnership effortless. Mats has an exceptional ability to translate complex sustainability and engineering concepts into compelling, business and people-focused stories, which is something that will serve him incredibly well as he steps into the role of President. I have every confidence that, under his guidance, Enviro-Stewards will continue to lead with integrity, innovation, and impact."
