Our new cold-climate heat pump is here!
Excited that our cold climate heat pump arrived last week! Previous conservation measures (living wall, CO2 controls, blue roof, insulation & window upgrades) have reduced our footprint by 88% per employee from our baseline year of 2008. However, this heat pump will avoid most of our remaining natural gas consumption (projection is to increase our total reduction per employee to 95%+).
The heat pump will serve as our lead source of heating and cooling and can operate to minus 30C. Our existing (natural gas) rooftop unit will remain in place to pick up the slack during any periods when the heat pump cannot keep up.
