Clean50 celebrates “outstanding contributors to clean capitalism” in Canada. On September 26th, we were honoured to have our project with Tim Hortons selected as a Top 15 Project for 2014.
Economically, our work with Tim Hortons’ Fruition Fruit and Fills plant in Oakville realized annual savings of over $490,000 per year and a return on investment of 260%!
Environmentally, the measures save enough:
– electricity to power 75 homes,
– natural gas to heat 59 homes,
– waste to fill 43 garbage trucks, and
– water to fill 15 Olympic sized swimming pools.
Socially, the facility sponsored 40 BioSand filters in South Sudan Africa that are purifying 800,000 L/yr of drinking water and avoiding 120 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions due to boiling of water.
