On January 20th, 2010, Mr. Taylor provided an address with practical insights into Toxic Use Reduction, Utility Conservation and Sustainable Development.
The Ontario Ministry of the Environment recently passed the Toxics Reduction Act (TRA) and Regulation 455/09 that require facilities to prepare pollution prevention (P2) plans. Facilities, whether or not they are subject to the act, can benefit from P2 work as it economically reduces worker exposure to toxic substances, utility and ingredient consumption and reduces waste treatment and disposal costs. This session outlines a concise and practical approach to conduct this work and demonstrates the economic, environmental and social sustainability of this work with several case studies.
